CoreMedica handles information in MacClipboard and this support website as described below.

Information stored on your Mac

The app stores copied text, images, file references, source app identifiers, timestamps, and pinned status to display history and copy items again. You can delete history in the app. Content from apps you exclude is not captured.

The shelf refers to original files. The app, widget, and copy helper use the same App Group storage.

Search, translation, and sharing

Google search passes a URL containing the text to your browser. Cloud translation sends text and settings such as the chosen model to your selected OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic service. API keys are stored in macOS Keychain. A configured API endpoint on another computer also receives the text outside your Mac. Each external service’s terms and privacy policy govern its handling of information.

In-app local models process translations on your Mac. Invoking search, translation, or sharing through an external service sends the information needed for that operation. Sharing through AirDrop or another service passes the selected file to the recipient you choose.
